World Youth Skills Day is an international celebration, which is held every year on July 15. The objective of this day is to increase youth skills, empowerment, employment ratio and make their environment more productive.
World Youth Skills Day was started to reduce the challenges of unemployment among the youth and to make them aware of skill development. On the initiative of Sri Lanka, the United Nations General Assembly announced the celebration of World Youth Skills Day every year on November 11, 2014.
"Pradhan Mantri Skill Development Scheme" was launched in India on 15 July 2015. Under this scheme, the government provides free industrial training to the youth of the country in various fields, so that they can get employment. Youth in the age group of 14 to 35 years can get training under this mission. Enrollment is required for three months, six months and one year training. After completing the course, a certificate is issued by the government. This certificate is valid throughout the country. After obtaining this certificate youth can easily get employment anywhere in the country based on their skills.
