Tabo is a small hill town located on the banks of Spiti river in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh in India. The town lies on the national highway connecting Rekong Peo and Kaja (alternative spelling: Kaja, a sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti district). The town is surrounded by a Buddhist monastery. Which is said to be a thousand years old. The Buddhist monastery at Tabo is one of the holiest monasteries. 'Kalachakra Abhishek' was organized at this Math. In which worship was performed by the Dalai Lama himself. With which the thousandth anniversary of the monastery was also celebrated. The ceremony was attended by thousands of Buddhist followers from all over the world.
*Geography and Climate*~
The village is situated at an altitude of 10,760 feet/ 3,280 meters above sea level. The climate of Tabo is very unpredictable as the weather here varies from cloudy to full sun as well as snowy and heavy snowfall. Summers here are short and winters are long.

*Tabo Buddhist Monastery* ~
The intricate wall paintings and clay sculptures at the Buddhist temples within the monastery complex at Tabo are of excellent quality. An attempt was made to restore it by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
*Caves of Tabo* ~
In front of Tabona Buddhist monastery (gompa) is a natural cave. Among these caves, only one cave 'Phu Gompa' is now in safe condition and is called 'Phu' because of its distance from the village. The Archeology Department of the Government of India is trying hard to save the remaining caves. The sculptures on the walls of these caves are still there. Some paintings are still in safe condition. These pictures contain pictures of some animals.
