'Baal Gangadhar Tilak' known as Lokmanya Tilak (Born: 23 July 1856 - Died: 1 August 1920) was an Indian patriot, freedom fighter, teacher and social reformer. He was a popular leader of India's freedom struggle. Indian people respectfully gave him the epithet "Lokmanya". "Swarajya is my birthright, and I will jump to get it" Lokmanya Tilak's words are still well remembered by the Indian people.
Tilak was born in Chikhli village of Sangameshwar taluka in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. He graduated from Deccan College, Pune in 1877. After graduation, Tilak started teaching mathematics in a private school in Pune. Then Bal Gangadhar Tilak became a journalist.
Bal Gangadhar Tilak met his college friends like Gopal Ganesh Agarkar, MadhavDeccan Education met with Ballal Namjoshi and Vishnu Krishna ChiplunkarSociety was established. Bal Gangadhar Tilak opposed Gopal Krishna Gokhale's soft stance in the National Mahasabha, and in this he was supported by Bipin Chandra Pal of Bengal and Lala Lajpatrai of Punjab. They became known as the trio of Lal-Bal-Pal. Is. In 1907, the National Convention of the Mahasabha (Congress) was held in Surat-Gujarat. Differences arose between soft and hardline factions over who would be the new president of the Mahasabha. The Mahasabha was divided into two parts. "Jahal Matavadis" ("Hard Party," or extremists) led by Lala Lajpatarai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandrapal, and "Mawal Matavadis" ("Soft Party," or moderates) led by Dadabhai Navroji, Surendranath Banerjee, Gopalkrishna Gokhale, Feroj Shah Mehta, etc. .
Lokmanya Tilak died on 1 August 1920.
