Durgabai Deshmukh (15 July 1909 – 9 May 1981) was a freedom fighter, lawyer, politician and social activist. He was a member of the Indian Constituent Assembly and the Planning Commission. As a social activist, she founded the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Sabha in 1937 for the freedom of women. He was also the founder of the Central Social Welfare Board. In 1953, she married the first Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and the Finance Minister of India between 1950-1956. d. Happened with Deshmukh.

He was a prominent social reformer and participated in satyagraha activities against the salt law organized under the leadership of Gandhi. During the period 1930 to 1933, he was arrested three times by the British government sentenced to imprisonment.
Durgabai became the first Chairperson of the National Council for Women's Education established by the Government of India in 1953. In 1963, Washington D.C. Participated as a member of the Indian delegation in the World Food Congress at The Department of Women's Studies at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam is named after Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh Center for Women Studies is housed.
