The choice-filling process for about 74,000 students, who qualified for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for school admissions and scholarships, has been postponed. Scheduled to begin on August 31, the process has been slowed down due to a delay in the approval process for residential schools.
The CET, organised by the State Examination Board on March 30, was conducted for admission into Class 6 at Gyanshakti Residential Schools, Gyanshakti Tribal Residential Schools, Rakshashakti Schools, and Model Schools under the Gyanasetu Merit Scholarship Scheme.
As many as 5,34,615 Class 5 students appeared for the exam, of which 76,000 students qualified. Among the qualified students, about 74,000 students registered for admission into the project schools or for scholarships.
Two years ago, the State Education Department launched the residential school project to provide free education from Class 6 to 12 for economically disadvantaged students, attending government and grant-aided schools.
