Shri Bhupendrabhai Rajinikanth Patel (born 15 July 1962) is an Indian politician and Chief Minister of Gujarat. He is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly representing the Ghatlodia constituency. He was announced as the Chief Minister of Gujarat state from September 2021 by the party.
Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel was born on July 15, 1962 in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He obtained Diploma in Civil Engineering from Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad in April 1982. He has been associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since his youth.
He was a member of Memnagar Municipality in 1995-96, 1999-2000 and 2004-06. He was the President of Memnagar Municipal Corporation in 1999-20. He was the Vice Chairman of the School Board of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation from 2008 to 2010. From 2010 to 2015, he was the councilor of Thaltej ward. He was the Chairman of Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) from 2015 to 2017. He was also the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
After Bhupendrabhai won the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections, he became a member of the Gujarat Assembly for the Ghatlodia constituency. On September 11, 2021, Shri Vijaybhai Rupani resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat. Mr. Bhupendrabhai Patel was unanimously elected as the BJP Assembly Leader and Chief Minister on September 13, 2021 at a party assembly meeting at Gandhinagar presided over by Central Observers Narendra Singh Tomar and Prahlad Joshi.
Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2022 Gujarat assembly elections and formed the government. Shri Bhupendrabhai Rajinikanth Patel took oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat State on December 12, 2022. In his new role as Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Bhupendrabhai Patel is committed to take Gujarat's development journey forward and strengthen good governance in the state.
