Hariprasad Manirai Vyas (Born: 25 May, 1904 – Died: 13 July, 1980) was a Gujarati humorist and children's writer.
He was born on May 25, 1904 in Bodka village near Vadodara. In 1921, he passed the matriculation examination in Vadodara. From 1925 till his retirement, he held the position of manager in Zenith Life and Insurance Company.
Hariprasad Vyas created several popular fictional characters in Gujarati children's literature such as Bakor Patel, Waghjibhai Vakil, Camel Doctor, Hathishankar Dhamadhamiya, Bhotwashankar. From 1936 to 1955, he wrote stories of Bakor Patel in Gandiv Pakhwadik. These stories were later published as an anthology. It includes Sarjan Bakor Patel (30 books), Maghtabaj Bhagabhai (6 books), Hathishankar Dhamdhamiya (6 books), Bhotavashankar's feats, Sunder Sundar (6 books), Balgobind, Gaikvinod, Anandvinod. He also wrote 10 children's plays under the Let's Play series. He wrote several comic essays under various titles including Keam Jharna, Kaeamkillol, Kaeamsavant, Kathahasant, In Search of a Wife, Blindly Deaf, Pothima's Ringan.
He died on July 13, 1980 in San Jose, California, USA.
