Azim was born in the family of a businessman. His father Mohammad Hashim Premjiwas a noted rice merchant. He had a rice trade in Burma (now Myanmar).
Because of this he was called Rice King of Burma. It was from Burma (now Myanmar) to IndiaCame and started living in Gujarat. Even after coming to Gujarat, he started trading in riceIn 1945 he closed his rice business. Mohammad Hashim Premji started the business of making vegetable ghee in 1945 and formed a company. The name of which was 'Western Indian Vegetable Products Limited'. The company manufactured vegetable oil and laundry soap.
Azim Premji did his primary education in Mumbai and then went to Stanford University in America to study electrical engineering. Azim Premji was 21 years old at that time. Azim Premji's father passed away in 1966. Azim Premji had to return home. At the age of just 21, Azim Premji decided to take over the company himself.
By 1977 the business had spread a lot and Azim Premji changed the name of the company to Wipro. 'Wipro' started working with an American company 'Sentinel Computers' to manufacture microcomputers. There was a technology sharing agreement with Sentinel Computers. After some time, Wipro also started making software to support its hardware.
In 2019-20, Azim Premji donated around 22 crores of rupees per day for service works i.e. a total of 7904 crores of rupees.
