World Population Day is celebrated on 11th July every year. This day is celebrated for the purpose of population control. The ever-increasing population is a serious concern. Problems like hunger, poverty, illiteracy and unemployment are increasing due to increasing population. In such a situation, it is necessary to take necessary measures for population control. India has the largest population in the world. The bigger the population, the bigger the problems to be faced. Various programs are organized from place to place to spread public awareness.
World Population Day is an annual celebration, which is celebrated on July 11 every year. World Population Day is celebrated to raise public awareness about the problem of overpopulation in the world. This celebration was started in 1989 by the Steering Committee of the United Nations Development Programme. On July 11, 1987, the world's population crossed five billion, a day known as the 'Five Billion Day', and this day is celebrated in public interest.
Currently population explosion is becoming a global problem as it is becoming a challenge to meet the requirement of food, clothing and shelter for the growing population. Population growth creates problems in providing good education, livelihood and health services to the people. Hence this day is celebrated to raise awareness about the problem of overpopulation in the world. Today the world has about eight billion people with the largest population in India.
Population growth cannot be controlled without public awareness and education. Water crisis is also increasing day by day. The growing population is also fueling pollution, leading to rapid decline in soil fertility and water table depletion. If we do not try to stop the growing population by showing awareness of time, one day we will have to face starvation and water crisis. Everyone has to be conscious to deal with population growth. Otherwise, the situation may worsen in the future
