Constitution of India
NO.GH/SH/50/SMS/1011/258/P.F.1.G.1: In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Gujarat hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Government Secondary Teacher, Class III, (Procedure for Selection) Rules, 2019, namely: -
1. (1) These rules may be called the Government Secondary Teacher Class III, (Procedure for Selection) (Amendment) Rules, 2024.
(2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Government Secondary Teacher, Class III (Procedure for Selection) Rules, 2019 (hereinafter referred as "the said rules"), in rule 2, for clause (d), the following clause shall be substituted, namely: -
"(d) Teachers Aptitude Test- secondary (TAT) means the teachers aptitude test- secondary conducted by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar with two tier examination format.".
3. In the said rules, in rule 3, the following proviso shall be added at the end, namely: -
"Provided that when the Selection Committee carried out the process of selection of the Government secondary teachers of other department, the said Committee may retain the officer not below the rank of the Deputy Secretary of the concerned department throughout the process.".
4. In the said rules, in rule 7, for clause (c), the following clause shall be substituted, namely: -
"(c) have passed Teachers Aptitude Test- secondary (TAT) with two-tier examination format of concerned subject specified in column 9 in Appendix-
5. In the said rules, in rule-10,
(i) for sub-rules (1) and (2), respectively, the following sub-rules shall be substituted, namely: -
"(1) The selection committee shall prepare a list of the successful candidates on the basis of weightage of the 100% marks of the marks secured by the concerned candidate in the Teachers Aptitude Test Secondary(TAT), provided the candidate who has secured at least 60% marks in the mains examination of Teachers Aptitude Test- secondary(TAT)
conducted by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar with two-tier examination format, shall be eligible to apply for the post of Teacher.:
Provided that while preparing a list of successful candidates, five percent (5%) marks of final merit shall be added in the total obtained marks for the female widow candidate who has not re-married at the time of appointment.
(2) The marks secured by the concerned candidate in Teachers Aptitude Test- secondary conducted by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar with two-tier examination format, shall be valid till announcement of the merit list of the next Teachers Aptitude Test.";
(ii) sub-rule (3) shall be deleted.
6. In the said rules, after rule 10, the following rule shall be inserted, namely: -
"10A. Choice of medium for TAT Secondary. The teacher aptitude test for appointment as teacher/teaching assistant in secondary school (TAT- Secondary) shall be conducted in three mediums namely, Gujarati, Hindi and English. A candidate may appear in any medium according to his choice and he shall be eligible for appointment as secondary teacher in a school imparting education in the same medium, in which medium the candidate has passed the examination."
7. In the said rules, for Appendix-1, the following Appendix shall be substituted, namely: -

"(b) possess the minimum educational qualification of Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree as specified in columns 3, 4 and 5 against each of the subject specified in Appendix-l, and a Bachelor's degree in Education or Shixa Visarad (GUJARAT VIDYAPITH) or Diploma in Education (D.B.Ed.) or Graduate Basic Training Course (G.B.T.C) as specified in column 6 or 7 against each of the subject specified in Appendix-l obtained from any of the Universities or Institutions established or incorporated by an Act of Parliament or a State Legislature in India or any other Educational institution recognised as such or
declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University
Grants Commission Act, 1956;
(c) have passed Teachers Aptitude Test- Higher secondary (TAT) with two tier examination format of concerned subject specified in column 9 in Appendix-1."
5. In the said rules, in rule 10,-
